Multi-Use Facilities

With the CONSOLIDATION of Companies,
Corporations, Directions and Purpose, a new
term has worked it's way into the jargon used to describe these rooms; the MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM. They have been described as 'Gymatoriums', 'Theatoriums', 'Performance Media Centers' and many other terms used to describe the undefined, yet to be announced applications that go on in these spaces. Many Churches are using the Multi-purpose Room as a first Sanctuary, only to use it as a Gym or Civic Center later on.

There are also many of these spaces that are just defined for multiple uses from the start, and the design must encompass ALL THE ASPECTS OF USAGE. An example of this approach is the Center for Self Enhancement. This facility was designed as a THX Class Movie Theater, Live Performance Theater, Civic Center and Live Performance Concert Venue. To add to that, it is also a Recording Studio and Production Facilty complete with Catwalks, Technical Intercom and Computerised Lighting.

The different aspect of these systems can be daunting enough, but, what if it were all FLOATING! Shown to the right is an installation on a River Boat that utilizes DJ, Live Music, Musical Comedy, as well as Safety Paging and Emergency Call Over Systems. Special consideration was given to system simplicity, Maritime Paging Demands, and Generator driven AC power concerns for this one.
